A superb Regency period mahogany writing table; the leathered top crossbanded in mahogany above two frieze drawers to one side and blind drawers to the back and sides; raised on boldly carved monopodia legs which are bronzed and carved with an anthemion to the knee and terminating claw and ball feet. The table retains an excellent colour and patination.
The design of the writing table is clearly influenced by George Smith's Household Furniture and it is closely related to a table illustrated in Regency Furniture by Margaret Jourdain.
