Chippendale Period c. 1754-1770

Thomas Chippendale is probably the most famous cabinet-maker of the Eighteenth Century. His fame is based on the designs he published in ‘The Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker’s Director’, 1754. The period is typified by the use of fine Cuban mahogany and the finest pieces are beautifully carved.
